Blockchain a key player in Industry 4.0
The last era of revolution in manufacturing technology included the arrival of computers and some automation technology. Businesses looking to stay relevant today are looking at ways to integrate computers and automated technology such to boost industry and productivity with little need for human operation. Currently about 8 percent of industry processes are automated and experts anticipate that with computer integration this number will rise to 25 percent in the next 10 years.
When we talk about connecting automation with computers, we’re talking about the implementation of virtual reality or augmented reality, robots, cloud technology and Blockchain, etc. in these systems. This integration seeks to increase interoperability, information transparency, and decentralised decision-making. Blockchain will play a big role in some of the challenges with this integration including data security, and providing more transparency in the face of less human oversight, and will also be a key player in managing data created by automated processes.
